The Plan of Salvation
How to accept Jesus as your Lord, and personal Savior
One of the most important decisions you will make in your life is whether to accept Jesus as you Lord and personal Savior. Please, continue reading to understand how to be saved.
1. You must recognize your need for Jesus. The Bible tells us:
~For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory God; Romans 3:23
~If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:8
What these scriptures tell us is that EVERYONE has sinned and disappointed God because of our sinful actions and choices. Read on though, God does not leave us there. He has a plan...a PERFECT PLAN!
2. We must believe in the good news of Jesus Christ. That HE came to show us love, and died upon the Cross that all might be saved. The Bible says:
~ but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
What these scriptures tell us, is Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin, freely lay down his life and died upon the cross of Calvary!
3. After coming to realize the above statements are true, you must then confess your sins to the Lord Jesus Christ and ask HIM into your heart. The Bible says:
~if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 8:9-10
~ For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 8:13
What these scriptures tell us, is once you realize your need for Jesus as your Savior, and believe He came to this earth so you might be saved, then you need to confess your sins to him through a prayer that goes something like this:
Dear Jesus, I realize that you came to this earth and died and rose again for anyone who would desire to be saved. I confess to you, Lord, that I am a sinner and in need of your salvation. I ask you to come into my heart and to be my Lord and Savior. I believe now, according to Romans 8:9-10, because I have confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believed in my heart that God has raised you, Jesus, from the dead, that I am now saved! I also declare, based on Romans 8:13 that because I have called on the name of Jesus, I AM SAVED!
In Jesus name, Amen.
If you prayed this simple prayer from your heart, and sincerely meant each word, then you are saved! Welcome to the family of God! Continue talking with Him through prayer. There is no special formula to prayer...just talk to Him as you would a friend. Tell Him how much you love, praise and trust Him (this is called worship). Then share with Him what's bothering you, what you are struggling with, things you need guidance on. Asking Him to help you draw closer to Him. Then thank Him for the answers He is going to provide.
Get a Bible and begin reading about Him. Get to know who God is. I personally like reading the King James Version (KJV), the New King James Version (NKJV) and the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible. These are the same Bibles, they are just different translations. The NKJV and the ESV uses language with words the way we speak today. Follow this link to my links page and you will find a free Bible Software link to help you get started with studying the Word of God.
Get involved in a good church fellowship that teaches and believes the Bible in it's entirety. Become part of that church family. Develop friendships there and fellowship and visit with each other. Hold each other up in prayer. And if you are unsure a church you are considering believes the Bible in it's entirety, please contact me and I will be happy to help you find the answers you are looking for.
Lastly, if you just prayed this prayer, I would love to hear from you. Please go to the contact page of my website and share the good news with me. I will do everything I can to help you along this new road you are walking.
